Nap Time...Prayer Time

Our day began at 7:00 am and she went full speed ahead until lunch time.  My darling Granddiva, Ms. Chloe did not waste a moment of her day......a breakfast of oatmeal and pineapples while watching her favorite GPB shows.  Then it is off to discover the wonders of the toybox, MiMi's closet, the mysteries of PopPops office and a myriad of other things.  by lunch time, she was rubbing her eyes and didn't object to my gentle request for her to take a nap.  Before GPB could get her favorite show on the screen she was sound asleep.

I watched her sleep and before I knew it I was in prayer.I prayed for her and about her grateful for the opportunity to spend some quality time with her since my schedule has been so crazy.  I prayed for our other grands as well....calling them each by name asking God to protect them all from their natural curiosities and to give them each a hunger for learning, academic and spiritual, that will allow their lights to shine before everyone they meet.  Before I knew it he nap time turned into a full out worship session with her being none the wiser because sleep had a hold on her and wasn't letting go anytime soon.

I stood in the Conference Room waiting for them to come.  Though I did not know exactly who or how many people to expect, none of that really mattered that much in the grand scheme of things.  I was excited that for the first time in my ministry career that I was going to impose ashes on those who came in remembrance of Ash Wednesday.  As I waited I thought about how quiet it was and I laughed silently because it seemed like for an hour or so that silence would overshadow the busyness of the hospital setting.  It reminded me of how God gently orchestrates the atmosphere in order to given the moment the reverence it is due.

I prayed for each of the employees that would come.  In my mind I imagined all of them...black and white, young and old, male and female...everyone who chose to take a moment out of their day to come in unmarked yet were willing to leave with a cross of ashes on their forehead.  I prayed that somehow the mark would cause them to pause, reflect and remember what the sacrifices of the season were all about.  All of a sudden my reverie was broken as I heard footsteps as the door slowly opened marking the arrival of a group who had heard the announcement and came.

Listen to His heart.

Sometimes this gift of words does not serve me well.  There are moments when, regardless of how hard I try, I am still misunderstood.  Maybe it is my tone or even my body language that sends things out of whack.  I am not quite sure which or even why it happens.  Out of my frustration, I simply shut down so that no more damage is done or harm inflicted.  Many times I walk away wounded, silently wishing that the other person would simply listen to my heart and not my words.

Your current web browser must be updated to version 7 of Internet Explorer (IE7) to take advantage of all of template's capabilities.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
