Rev. Debbie Dowdell, Associate Pastor


In 2001, Rev. Dowdell answered to a higher calling of God. She was licensed to preach and after years of training she was ordained Itinerate Elder in September 2007.


Rev. Dowdell has served in many roles within her church – YPD Director, Sunday School Secretary, Sunday School Teacher, Usher, Steward, Stewardess, Choir member, and on the kitchen committee.


Rev. Dowdell is a graduate of Beulah High School and received her Certification of Office Management from Southern Union State Community College. She is employed by East Alabama Medical Center (Bethany House Hospice) as a full time secretary.


Rev. Dowdell joined Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church at an early age and has remained a faithful servant unto God and the church. She is married to Marvin Dowdell and is the mother of two, Maya and Korehy. She and her family reside in Opelika, Al.
